Students need to sketch their own face(self-potrait) with a pencil(black and white).Students also need to write some descriptions about themselves by describing their personal background and must write about what they see themselves in 5 years later.Besidesas an architect,interior design urban&regional planner,building surveyor,building technologist,quantity surveyor and construction management,they must write about what can they contribute for the betterment of the built environment.Actually,I very excited to draw my face because this is the one of task that i think it is good to learn the basic sketching,drawing technique,writing descriptions and composing graphical images.









PROJECT 1B:PERSONAL LOGO

  • Students need to create a Personal Logo(as their 'personal branding')that best reflects their personality and strengths.
  • The logo design should contain a maximum of 3 colours
  • Students also need to clarify the design of the logo by describing the rational for design elements used(such as line,shape,form,colours and others)
  • The description should be hand-written using upper case architectural lettering (pen ink) and the logo design should not be more than 200mmx200mm size
This is my logo.I design my logo based on 'who i am' and describe about the built environment.My logo trade mark is Intelectual.Patience.Enthusiasm.I take two days to sketch my logo.It so funny because Im so very excited to use the water colour and try to learn something new from this project.





PROJECT 2:NATURAL&MAN MADE STRUCTURER

PROJECT 2A:NATURAL STRUCTURE


  • Students are required to produce a black&white sketch of natural structure that can be found around USM Main Campus example trees&plants,insects,animal,other creatures
  • The sketch should include the elements of light and shadow
  • Students are also required to do write up(using 'upper case architectural lettering') describing the object chosen for sketch.
  • At the back of mounting board,students should paste the actual photo(black and white) of the object chosen.Students also need to write the name of the object and the location where it is found below the photo. 


                                      







PROJECT:MAN MADE STRUCTURE

  • Students are required to produce a coloured drawing of a man-made structure that can be found around USM Main Campus
  • The man-man structure should not be more than one storey height which clearly exposes its main structures like bus stop,car porch,covered,pathway and wakaf




PROJECT 3A:OBJECT CREATION:A FREE-FORM SCULPTURE

  • The theme of sculpture is Harmony but each student is free to choose their specific concept that is relevant to the stipulated theme




PROJECT 3B:OBJECTS CONNECTION:A COMFORTABLE CHAIR

  • In group of 3,students are required to produce a structural model of a wooden L-shape seating object that combines a table and chair(s) students are free to design and decide the form of each cahir/sofa/table/desk)
  • The theme of that seating object is 'UNITY' but each group is free to choose their specific concept that is relevant to the stipulated theme




PROJECT 4:PRESENTATION DRAWINGS
PROJECT ISSUED:7 OCTOBER 2013
SUBMISSION DATE:18 OCTOBER 2013
  • Based on Project 3B(Object Connection),students are required to produce a plan and elevations (front,right,left and rear)drawings of their wooden Comfortable Chair
  • The Drawings should be coloured based on the actual condition of thier respective Comfortable Chair(not based on the colour of their structural model)
  • Drawings should be in A3 size and 1:20 scale.
  • Based on their Comfortable Chair design,each student is also required to produce at least one coloured
          i)axonometric drawing(1:20 scale)
          ii)perspective drawing(with human figure shown)

INTEGRATED PROJECT:DESIGN & BUILD 'AN AMPHITHEATRE STAGE'

OBJECTIVES
  • To enhance students skills in applying suitable elements and principle of design in producing a small building with specific function and context.
  • To improve students 'skills in conducting and documenting site analysis,designing objects and producing complete presentation drawings
  • To enhance students creativity in producing remarkable stage design in real climate and site context and explaining it with a clear design statement.
  • To introduce to the skills of applying suitable structural design,materials and basic services.
  • To expose student to the basic costing analysis
  • To expose students to report writing requirements and skills
  • To expose students to the knowledge of basic construction process and management.
  • To allow students to construct a relatively large scale of physical model with appropriate construction techniques
  • To encourage teamwork and nourish leadership skills among students

PROJECT 7:EXHIBITION

The actors of RUS104 are required to share their studioworks (Project 1 to Project 6) with HBP community by displaying them during their self-organized exhibition event.

The exhibition will take place at one of the major spots of the school - theDRUM.

For the exhibition, 5 major groups should be formed (consisting of 4 groups based on students’ major integrated group (that consists of ‘Exhibition Committee Members’ who are responsible for ‘Integrated Project Booth’ and ‘Multi-tasking Job’)

All groups will be responsible to design 5 Exhibition Booths (4 major-based group to exhibit the best studio 
works of their members and 1 integrated group to display the integrated-group studio project (Project 6) 
during this semester).

The design of each booth and exhibition area at the DRUM should be based on the stipulated ‘RUS104 
2013/2014 Exhibition’

THEME:'FLOATING LINES’








PROJECT 8:LIVE PERFORMANCE


All students of RUS104 need to organize a special event as a ‘closing ceremony’to their one-semester 
‘learning-by-doing’ studio life.

The ceremony (named as ‘RUS104 Performance and Awards Night’) will take place at Dewan Kuliah D, USM (next to Penerbit USM).

The event involves a series of live performances by 7 major-based groups, multimedia presentation, award 
giving ceremony, and a farewell dinner.

The theme for the Performance Night is ‘The Lost Kingdoms’. In line with the theme, each major-based 
group should represent the specific Nusantara kingdoms 
as follows:
i.Architecture – Srivijaya
ii.Interior Design – Singhasari
iii.Urban & Regional Planning – Langkasuka
iv.Quantity Surveying – Majapahit
v.Building Surveying – Pagaruyung
vi.Building Technology – Mataram
vii.Construction Management – Demak

For this purpose, all members of the group should ‘design’and wear the costumes that can reflect their 
respective kingdom to the event.

Each major-based group should come up with its own sub-theme (or concept) of the 10 minutes Live 
Performancethat is relevant to the stipulated main.
